butchnotes
the men dont know what to do
with us. they're worried we will revolt
by rubbing
our lives together then making
war with the gloss
of our pupils. im dreaming
splinters in all the ones
who smiled at us and spit
i cant tell if those are two pretty boys
or...
Women with no hair
Women with broad shoulders and floating
cheekbone Women that bite and smear
gum on their boot women
who are outside and angry all over and
Women who mother and froth
at the hood and sob while loving
Women?
he holds that thought
flush face disassembles
a tremble and corrects,
...not that im into them
that is how we should fit
neatly in the gap of their incise
i grasp my wife's waist
every step is an escape i whistle
take a big bite baby!
the hard bread of my life
tastes better the more you chew

Sky is a butch modernist poet from Brooklyn. Her work replicates the hybrid splices of her life–halfcultures, in-between-gender expression, and the midpoint of her adult and adolescent retellings. Her poetry is explorative, with a range of traditional and modern verse for telling stories about in betweens and incompleteness.
