Time Fold

All On The Table

Spirits’ Exhaust Fanning The Flames
Artist Statement
The work has focused on the abnormal abstractions in life and reality. These are not finite things. The work has moved back and forth in the medium in order to observe and play with copies and duplications, and duplications of copies. With the structures modeling the indifference of copying, in a ‘dope,’ quick rewards kind of way. The hand, as it learns to use tools, copies the computer, and the computer copies the hand. It is not all a linear path as once thought. In lesser times, we had that for security.
This is one’s journey with absurd, normal, feelings of wrapping your head around clouds, while simultaneously in them. That challenge then becomes a force to activate your gut. Again, and again. For your own sanity. This will remind others that revolution can exist. Self-contemplation, cementing reality, and sourcing for accountability is an odyssey made for humanity forever. To eventually, kind of, figure it out. Or not. One small decision to wake up. Every day. To make it better.

Aaron Brandt is an artist based in Cincinnati, Ohio. He studied digital art and photography at the University of Toledo, then went on to Bowling Green State University to earn his MFA in Digital Art. He has previously worked as an instructor at the University of Toledo and at Lill Street Art Center in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood, both focusing on Fundamentals of Digital Media and Photography. His role at the Cincinnati Museum Center’s Kids Space influenced his studio work. There, he managed programming for the makerspace and used donated recycled materials to create parade costumes, floats, toys, and mixed-media art pieces with visitors and staff.
Aaron’s work has been exhibited at the Indianapolis Art Center, Indianapolis, Indiana; Site: Brooklyn, in Brooklyn, New York; and Canopy Collective in Cleveland, Ohio.
In the studio, Aaron works to create without focusing on any one medium. He incorporates fundamental ideas from art history, digital art, photography, illustration, and sculpture to inspire his work. He creates by exploring and playing.
